Unchecked AI development driven solely by corporate interests and the pursuit of profit could lead to catastrophic consequences if these powerful systems become uncontrollable or misaligned with human values. To safeguard the well-being of citizens and maintain control over this potentially transformative technology, governments must have the ability to impose reasonable restrictions and oversight on AI development. Responsible regulation is crucial to ensuring that AI remains a tool to benefit society rather than a threat to our survival. I urge you to have the 10 year ban removed from the Big Beautiful Bill. Therefore, a specific request is made to support legislation that enables governments to regulate AI development in the interests of public safety and ethical alignment.
