An Open Letter

To: Sen. Kaine, Sen. Warner

From: A constituent in Forest, VA

March 26

I'm writing to express my strong opposition to the confirmation of Mike Huckabee as the U.S. Ambassador to Israel. As a constituent, I urge you to carefully consider the implications of his appointment and the potential harm it could cause to the region and our country's interests. Huckabee's record on Israel is alarming, particularly his support for the annexation of the West Bank and his denial of the Palestinian people's right to self-determination. His views are not only at odds with longstanding U.S. policy but also with the values of justice, equality, and peace that our country strives to promote. Moreover, Huckabee's history of anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian rhetoric is deeply concerning. His inflammatory statements have the potential to exacerbate tensions and undermine efforts to achieve a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I'm not alone in my opposition to Huckabee's confirmation. Many faith groups, including the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism and the Alliance of Baptists, have expressed strong concerns about his nomination. These groups recognize that Huckabee's views are not only harmful to the Palestinian people but also undermine the well-being of Jews, Israel, and America. I urge you to consider the long-term consequences of confirming Mike Huckabee as the U.S. Ambassador to Israel. Our country deserves a diplomatic representative who will promote peace, justice, and equality, not exacerbate conflict and division. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this critical matter.
