Reject Partisan and Racial Gerrymandering

To: Rep. Pyrtle, Sen. Berger

From: A constituent in Eden, NC

October 21, 2025

North Carolina voter registration is evenly split between registered Democrats and Republicans. We as voters, regardless of party, have the right to fair maps where each district is drawn to represent this split so that we have the opportunity to vote in or out the Congressional Representatives that we believe will best represent us and as the NC Constitution demands. You know it’s wrong to draw the maps so that one party cannot mathematically have a fair shot to win even though voters and elections in this state are evenly split. You know that it’s also wrong to dilute the power of Black voters who fought and died for fair representation. I expect and ask you to completely reject partisan and racial gerrymandering and draw fair maps in a non-partisan way based on 2020 Census data. What happened in the past and what other states do don’t control YOUR responsibilities to the people of North Carolina. Jesus Christ looks with sorrow on those who steal, whether money or votes.
