Last May, Republicans claimed their SNAP cuts would not affect children. During the full committee markup, Rep. Dusty Johnson said, “If you have young children at home, your benefits are unaffected by this bill.” Now, less than a year later, more than 700,000 children across just 12 states have lost SNAP benefits. In Arizona alone, more than 205,000 children, or 55% of children who were previously receiving SNAP, have lost access to benefits.
