December 12

Trump got his a** handed to him yesterday. It was glorious. First, despite his threats of retaliation, Indiana state senators voted overwhelmingly to block a Trump backed illegal redistricting plan. JD Vance, Mike Johnson, and Trump all had their daily rants and threats, but the Indiana state senators refused to bow down to their nonsense. They knew it was time to do the right thing. Secondly, one of the targets of Trump's blatant racism was freed from ICE custody. A federal judge released Abrego Garcia from a US immigration detention facility after ruling that the Trump administration lacked valid legal grounds to keep him in custody. That judge blasted Trump's people for their misconduct in her court. Thirdly, in another federal courtroom a grand jury, now for the 2nd time, declined to indict New York AG Leticia James on Trump's ridiculous mortgage fraud charges. Technically this is the 4th time Trump has failed to indict Leticia James since we must include the Lindsey Halligan debacle and Erik Siebert's refusal to bring charges. Trump should be embarrassed. He looks like the fool that he is. And then we have Kristi Noem. You saw what happened yesterday. She was humiliated in front of the whole world. Then, the GOP led House voted to reinstate collective bargaining rights, despite what Mike Johnson wanted. What does all of this mean? Trump is wearing thin on everyone. He started out riding high and pushing hard but that was short-lived. Not even a year into this term, Trump is a lame duck. He is weak. He is ineffective. He is completely unhinged from the political process and incapable of governing. His officials are floundering. Now voters and legislators are prepared to ignore him despite his excessive tantrums. Trump is losing his grip and 2025 isn't even over. We expect Trump to become more over the top as he tries to reassert his relevance. Democrats understand this and the GOP is learning. We are keeping an eye on the GOP. The smart ones will know when to jump ship. Those who remain loyal to Trump, for whatever reasons, will fight over the scraps and try to claim Trump's position if it looks like the king is going down. They will fail miserably. But yesterday was a good day.
