Vote NO on Oklahoma SB 484, harmful overreach

To: Gov. Stitt, Sen. Guthrie, Rep. Hall

From: A verified voter in Tulsa, OK

February 25

SB 484 is a blatant overstep of government power that will actively harm Oklahoma's most vulnerable populations. By stripping local governments of their ability to provide shelter and services, this bill will tear families apart, force children out of their schools, and lead to increased homelessness across the state. Rural communities will be especially impacted, as they will be barred from establishing locally-run shelters to meet their unique needs. Furthermore, SB 484 tramples on religious freedom by restricting churches from fulfilling their missions of offering shelter. Instead of punitive measures, we need compassionate solutions that empower communities to care for their own. Vote NO on SB 484 to protect local control, keep families together, and prevent a statewide crisis of unsheltered homelessness. Oklahomans deserve better than this misguided and harmful legislation.
