I just read that you vetoed the Antisemitism in Education Act. As a proud Jewish American and a 40+ years resident of Arizona, I am extremely disappointed. What I have read seems to indicate that you are worried about lawsuits against teachers. But if a teacher allows antisemitic content in their classroom, I believe they deserve to be sued! Telling parents and students that they can contact the Board of Education when exposed to antisemitic behavior is ridiculous. You need to have preventative rules put in place so this doesn’t happen. As your constituent, I request that you have your team come up with another bill ASAP to protect students from experiencing antisemitic behavior in school. If you don’t like the one that you vetoed, you need to come up with a new one instead. I read this from CBS News: “Under the proposal, universities and colleges couldn't recognize any student organization that invites a guest speaker who incites antisemitism, encourages its members to engage in antisemitism or calls for the genocide of any group.” This is exactly what we need in our schools! Please do everything in your considerable power to put in place preventative measures so students are not confronted with vile antisemitic behavior. Our people are already suffering. Don’t make it worse.
