File Lawsuit Against Unconstitutional Voter File Executive Order

To: Dir. Cox

From: A constituent in Salt Lake City, UT

April 1

Our state must file a lawsuit immediately to block Trump's executive order on voter files and mail-in ballots. This order is blatantly unconstitutional, and we cannot wait while the administration attempts to seize control over elections that the Constitution expressly reserves to the states. The order directs DHS and the Social Security Administration to compile a national voter file and requires USPS to restrict mail-in ballots based on a federal approval list. The Constitution gives the president zero authority over elections. David Becker, executive director of the Center for Election Innovation and Research, confirmed that "There's not a single provision in here that will withstand judicial review." Trump signed a similar order last year that was struck down in court. Oregon and Arizona have already announced lawsuits. We need to join them or file our own action now. The Justice Department is already pressuring states to hand over voter rolls including social security numbers and driver's license information. They've filed dozens of lawsuits for this data but haven't won a single case. We cannot allow this administration to weaponize our voter information or undermine our election system. File suit today.
