I am writing to express my deep concern about the current state of our democracy and the urgent need for effective leadership at both the national and state levels. Recent comments by Democratic leadership, including Hakeem Jeffries, have left me frustrated and disheartened. When he stated, "It's their government," he essentially suggested that the situation is beyond our control. But this is our government — and it’s up to us to fight for it.
We have seen examples from around the world, such as the South Korean government, where leaders fought for democracy even in the face of armed opposition. South Korean parliamentarians physically pushed past soldiers, took their seats, and voted to protect their country. If they could take such decisive action, we must ask: why are we not fighting with the same tenacity here?
I understand the complexities and challenges you face as representatives, but the need for bold action has never been more pressing. We cannot afford to wait or allow the continued erosion of our freedoms. This moment demands leadership that is willing to stand up against authoritarianism and fight for the values we hold dear.
If you are unable to take strong, decisive action, I urge you to consider the importance of stepping aside and allowing new leaders to rise who are ready to defend our democracy with unwavering commitment.
We are counting on you to represent us, and we need to see that resolve in action.
