Pay everyone or pay no one

To: Sen. Warner, Sen. Kaine

From: A verified voter in Newport News, VA

October 9

Are you kidding me with this new bill?!? Pay everyone or pay no one. If you get the military paid and not the civil servant work force you are opening the door to half government shutdowns where only the DoD is open while you argue about the rest of us for longer. The only people whose pay should be withheld in the case of a lack of appropriations is Congress. DO YOUR GODDAMN JOBS. You have all year to figure out a budget. It’s not like the start of the fiscal year changes. October 1 is always October 1. The public should be absolutely be impacted in a shutdown; how else will they know the invisible cogs that keep the US running are closed? Certain offices shouldn’t get special treatment to not affect the public. That’s the whole incentive to not having a shutdown every time you morons kick the can down the road. Partial pay will just make the shutdown drag on longer. You will lose any leverage you have. I’m extremely disappointed in the lack of foresight this bill displays from folks who are supposed to understand how the federal government the most. DO BETTER.
