Condemn Pete Hegseth's Violent Version of Christianity
To: Rep. Wittman
From: A constituent in Henrico, VA
March 30
Do you agree with Pete Hegseth that what God wants for America is to exercise "overwhelming violence of action against those who deserve no mercy"?
Do you believe that is a Christian point of view? I was under the impression that Christianity teaches us that no one is undeserving of divine mercy, and that the Sermon on the Mount preaches that God intends us to love our enemies and pray for our persecutors.
Don't the Proverbs tell us not to envy a man of violence or choose any of his ways? Aren't we warned not to repay evil with evil or insult with insult? Don't the Psalms tell us that those who love violence, the Lord hates with a passion?
I certainly don't choose Pete Hegseth's way. Do you? If not, you need to speak up and say something about it. Otherwise, your constituents have no choice but to conclude that you are also a man of violence -- and a very poor Christian.
Pete Hegseth's version of Christianity is not one that Jesus would recognize. He is an unhinged danger to the country, driven by open and unrestrained sadism and bloodlust. He needs to be removed from office, and I want you to take action to protect our nation from this man of violence.
