The Texas Republican plan to dismantle the space shuttle Discovery and move it to Houston is an egregious use of taxpayer dollars. They are estimating it will cost $80million to safely move it but experts within NASA and other engineering industries are estimating well over $150million to account for the delicate nature of the hundreds of thousands of parts, specifically the tens of thousands of fragile mirrors. There is absolutely no valid reason to remove the discovery from the Udvar hazy center in VA and as someone who personally watched it flying here I find this to be an insultingly narrow minded effort by the GOP in Texas. It will cost us far too much money and for a regime hell bent on finding waste fraud and abuse this is a laughable effort. Do not allow this move to happen.
