Reject Kash Patel's Controversial FBI Director Nomination

To: Sen. Sinema, Sen. Kelly

From: A constituent in Gilbert, AZ

December 4

The nomination of Kash Patel to lead the FBI is deeply concerning. Patel's record demonstrates a troubling lack of commitment to upholding the Constitution and the rule of law. As a former FBI agent notes, Patel helped spread the baseless conspiracy theory that the 2020 election was "rigged" against Trump, despite over 60 court rulings finding no evidence of fraud. He has also promoted the unfounded "deep state" conspiracy theory aimed at undermining government institutions. Patel's own statements raise doubts about his ability to remain impartial and respect due process. He has vowed to "go after" judges, lawyers, and journalists he perceives as having wrongly investigated Trump - openly threatening to abuse his power against American citizens without evidence of wrongdoing. This echoes the dark history of J. Edgar Hoover's FBI illegally surveilling and blackmailing civil rights leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. based on mere suspicion rather than facts. An FBI Director must be devoted to preserving democracy and constitutional rights, not pursuing personal vendettas against the President's perceived enemies. Patel's blind allegiance to Trump over the rule of law disqualifies him from leading an agency tasked with upholding justice impartially. I urge you to vigorously oppose this nomination and demand a Director committed to serving the Constitution rather than any individual's interests. The consequences of enabling abuse of power at the FBI would be devastating for our nation.
