This is a complaint regarding the scheduling incompetence and/or negligence by Portland & Western Railroad. Based on their website with a confusing mix of P&W Railroad and G&W Railroad branding depending on which section of website one is viewing - I'm leaning towards incompetence. The real issue here is that as a short distance freight railroad, their website states they can post no schedules. These freight trains cause significant traffic backups through Tigard, Tualatin, and Lake Oswego from road/railroad crossings which include SW Carmen Dr, SW 72nd Ave, SW Bonita Rd, Boones Ferry Rd, and SW McEwan Rd. This causes backups of 30-60 minutes for most people traveling in this area. The trains also stop and move back and forth before finally proceeding. This has been getting worse over the past few years, and today was the worst I've seen with traffic backing up onto I5 from exits 290 and 291.
