On July 4, 1776, Congress declared not only the severance of the political tie between 13 British colonies and their former homeland but also the end of monarchical government in the United States. And today, 250 years later, the man in charge of the celebration wants to make it a royalist celebration all about himself. His face is plastered all over DC, his face is on gold coinage, currency, National Parks passes, and passports. He schedules a cage fight on White House lawns to celebrate himself. He paints statues gold (no-bid contracts), paints the reflecting pool a hideous blue with an overpriced no bid contract, and aims to build a Triumphal Arch that blocks the view of Arlington Cemetery - while launching failing, illegal wars and invasions around the world. He understands NOTHING about the values and visions of the founding fathers. Stop funding all of these vanity projects. The 250th celebration will go down in history as a colossal Trump failure and a national embarrassment - the world’s “greatest democracy” has a wannabe king who celebrates himself, while trashing the democracy and everything it stood for. SHAME
