I am writing to express my strong support for Utah’s vote-by-mail system and my concern that the recent legislative audit is being used as a pretext to undermine or eliminate this crucial voting method. The audit found areas for improvement in election security, but it also confirmed what we already know—there is no widespread election fraud in Utah.
Vote-by-mail has dramatically increased voter access, allowing citizens who may not have the time or ability to vote in person to participate in our democracy. Rather than rolling back this system, we should be working to strengthen it by implementing the audit’s recommendations for better voter roll maintenance and ballot security.
Using this audit to justify restricting vote-by-mail is not a solution—it’s a step backward. Utah has long been a leader in secure and efficient elections, and I urge you to resist any attempts to limit voting access under the guise of election integrity.
I appreciate your time and your commitment to representing Utah voters. I hope you will stand in support of keeping and improving our vote-by-mail system.
