DeSantis Family Fraud, GOP Grift, Medicaid Theft — Demand Justice for the American People I’m demanding an immediate investigation into the blatant theft and misuse of taxpayer dollars under Florida Governor Ron DeSantis — and his wife, Casey DeSantis. On April 22, 2025, the Miami Herald exposed that $10 million of Medicaid funds — money meant for healthcare for the most vulnerable Americans — was secretly diverted by the DeSantis administration into “Hope Florida,” a state-created charity heavily tied to Casey DeSantis. This wasn’t a misunderstanding. It was a deliberate abuse of power. The money came from a $67 million Medicaid fraud settlement with Centene Corporation — money that legally belonged to federal and state taxpayers. Instead of returning it to Medicaid to benefit the people it was stolen from, DeSantis redirected it to his wife’s pet charity to burnish his political brand and bolster their ambitions. This is coordinated fraud. This is criminal theft. This is using public health dollars to fund personal and political operations — while pretending to be champions of “small government” and “fiscal responsibility.” Meanwhile, millions of Floridians — children, seniors, veterans, disabled people — are denied healthcare they desperately need. I demand the following, without delay: • Immediate subpoenas for all documents related to the Centene settlement and the creation and operation of Hope Florida. • A full congressional hearing into the misuse of Medicaid funds by Governor Ron DeSantis and Casey DeSantis. • Referral to the Department of Justice for possible criminal prosecution for fraud, conspiracy, and misuse of federal funds. • Passage of legislation to block state officials from ever funneling federal healthcare dollars into personal or political pet projects again. This is not an isolated incident — it’s part of a broader Republican pattern of using public money for private gain while attacking the poor and vulnerable. Enough cover-ups. Enough corruption. Enough two-tiered justice. Investigate them. Prosecute them if warranted. Restore integrity to our government. If you fail to act, you are complicit.
