I am a constituent writing to express my profound disappointment and dismay in your recent YES vote for H.R. 9495. Freedom of expression and political dissent are cornerstones of American democracy. This bill allows a single government official to categorically declare any non-profit a “terrorist supporting” organization, effectively shutting them down, with no recourse. In fascist states, such behavior is the norm — in the United States of America, legislating such blatant oppression of free speech and political discourse should never have been entertained. Going forward, I urge you to keep the basic principles of the Declaration of Independence and Constitution in mind when casting your vote as my Representative.
