Denounce unconstitutional federal overreach against peaceful protesters

To: Sen. Tillis, Sen. Budd, Rep. Moore

From: A constituent in Belmont, NC

June 10

The partisan actions by the President are a clear overreach of federal authority and a violation of state sovereignty. Mobilizing the National Guard without the consent of state leadership is an unconstitutional maneuver that undermines the principles of democracy. This misuse of military force against civilian protesters exercising their First Amendment rights is a dangerous escalation. We must uphold the rule of law and respect the separation of powers between federal and state governments. Deescalation and restraint are urgently needed to prevent further inflaming tensions and violence. We call for an immediate withdrawal of federal forces, a return to lawful procedures that prioritize citizens' rights and public safety, and for Congress to denounce these unconstitutional actions.
