I strongly urge you to reject Tulsi Gabbard's nomination as Director of National Intelligence. There are grave concerns about her fitness for this critical role overseeing the nation's intelligence apparatus. Gabbard's history of cozying up to dictators like Bashar al-Assad in Syria and spreading conspiracy theories about Russia's invasion of Ukraine raises serious questions about her judgment and loyalties. Nearly 100 former diplomats and intelligence officials have voiced alarm over Gabbard's "sympathy for dictators" and alignment with hostile regimes. Her 2017 unilateral meeting with Assad was seen as so concerning that lawmakers worried she might compromise an undercover Syrian defector codenamed "Caesar" by sharing intelligence with the Assad regime during his testimony before Congress. Gabbard also lacks meaningful experience in the intelligence field. Appointing someone so inexperienced yet ideologically compromised to lead the entire intelligence community could jeopardize national security, damage intelligence sharing with allies, and undermine the nonpartisan integrity of America's intelligence agencies. Gabbard is simply unfit for this vital position of public trust. I implore you to put national interests first and reject her confirmation.
