The Trump administration's actions represent a flagrant disregard for the Constitution and the rule of law. Their refusal to comply with court orders, including unanimous decisions by the Supreme Court, undermines the system of checks and balances enshrined in our founding principles. No administration is above the law, and this pattern of defiance erodes public trust in our government institutions. Concrete actions must be taken to rein in these abuses of power and reassert Congress's role as a co-equal branch of government. Subpoenas should be issued to investigate the administration's violations of due process and First Amendment rights of students, legal immigrants, and migrants. Further inquiries are warranted into the infiltration of government IT systems by unvetted private actors and the potential theft of sensitive data. Ultimately, if the President persists in this constitutionally abhorrent conduct, the process to remove him from office through impeachment must commence. Failing to hold the Executive accountable jeopardizes our democratic norms and the durability of our republic itself. Swift action to condemn these transgressions and restore the integrity of our institutions is imperative.
