Trump’s Martial Law Playbook Is Unfolding in LA — Congress Must Intervene Now I’m writing with urgency to demand immediate Congressional action against Donald Trump’s illegal and dangerous federal takeover of Los Angeles using National Guard troops — without state request, justification, or legal authority. Here are the verified facts: • Governor Gavin Newsom has formally demanded the Trump administration rescind its unlawful deployment and return control to California. He wrote: “We didn’t have a problem until Trump got involved. This is a serious breach of state sovereignty — inflaming tensions while pulling resources from where they’re actually needed.” • Mayor Karen Bass agrees, calling it a provocation: “Troops were rolled out in a provocative manner… I don’t see how that is helpful to Los Angeles.” • The National Guard was federalized under Title 10 without the Insurrection Act — a rare, extreme move that violates the Tenth Amendment. • Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has said he’s prepared to send U.S. Marines — a terrifying escalation bordering on martial law. • Trump justified this using reports of violence during ICE raids — part of his promise to carry out the largest mass deportation in U.S. history, invoking the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to expand his power. • Reports of detainees held in a federal building basement sparked protests. ICE denied it, but transparency is lacking. • DHS claimed “about 1,000 rioters,” but Reuters couldn’t verify it, and no arrests or property damage matched that number. • Local law enforcement confirmed protests were mostly peaceful, especially before Trump escalated. • Journalists were tear-gassed, shoved, and one was shot in the leg, caught on camera screaming “We’re press!” • Trump previously told Hegseth to “shoot protesters in the legs.” Now it’s happened — during his unlawful occupation of Los Angeles. • Videos show flash-bangs thrown into debris just before a car caught fire, strongly suggesting law enforcement — not protesters — started it. This is not public safety. It’s political theater, authoritarianism, and constitutional collapse. Congress must act now: 1. Hold emergency hearings into the Title 10 deployment and threats to send U.S. Marines. 2. Subpoena all DHS, DOD, and ICE records related to these actions and detainee treatment. 3. Block any future unauthorized military deployments under domestic pretenses. 4. Pass legislation reaffirming state control over National Guard forces and outlawing unlawful federalization. Californians are being terrorized. The press is under attack. And the president is using the military to execute a political agenda targeting immigrants and sanctuary cities. This is unconstitutional. Immoral. Dangerous. Stop it now.
