Vote “no” on GOP Stopgap Funding Resolution Without Guardrails
To: Sen. Klobuchar
From: A constituent in Fergus Falls, MN
March 14
I’m calling on Senator Klobuchar to vote no on the House-passed Continuing Resolution (with no input from Democrats) and instead move to pass a clean version that ensures strong protections are included and isn’t just a blank check for DOGE.
Right now the Executive Branch is bypassing Congress to weaken federal agencies by cutting staff, redirecting funding, and creating excuses to shut them down. This is undermining government services we all rely on.
if CR is passed without safeguards this will keep happening, even without a government shutdown the net effect will be the same. I’m asking Senator Klobuchar to support including these protections in the stopgap funding resolution:
1)Keep staffing levels from 2023. This stops politically motivated job cuts.
2)Block unauthorized agency closures. The executive branch shouldn’t defend or shutdown agencies without approval from Congress.
3)Require transparency. Agencies must report how funds are used with penalties if they violate rules.
4) Protect whistleblowers. Workers must be able to report abuse without fear a clean CR just delays the damage we need real guard rails to protect workers agencies, and essential services.
5) No new spending powers for the Executive.
Please make this a priority and do not cede the leverage you have in preventing further damage to the Constitutional order.
Thank you for your time and for all the work you do
