The Public Library Fund is a crucial source of funding for Ohio's public libraries, including our local Wright Memorial Public Library. This fund enables libraries to provide essential services and resources that enrich our community - from access to digital materials and technology assistance, to early literacy programs and outreach for seniors. However, the proposed state budget would slash over $100 million from this fund over two years, forcing deep cuts to the very services that so many rely on. Libraries are pillars of an educated and informed society. They open doors to knowledge, personal growth, and community connection for people of all ages and backgrounds. Stripping their funding would undermine these vital institutions and deprive Ohioans of invaluable public resources. As your constituent, I urge you to preserve robust funding for Ohio's public libraries by restoring the Public Library Fund to the level proposed in Governor DeWine's budget at 1.75% of the General Revenue Fund. Our libraries, and the communities they serve, cannot afford this detrimental cut. Please prioritize sustaining and strengthening these educational and cultural hubs for all Ohioans.
