Remove DHS Secretary Mullin for Refusing to Follow Court Orders
To: Sen. Lee, Rep. Maloy, Sen. Curtis
From: A constituent in Salt Lake City, UT
June 3
Remove Markwayne Mullin as DHS Secretary. His testimony before Congress this week made clear he will not commit to following court orders — even when judges he dismisses as "politicized" include Republican appointees. A cabinet secretary who won't follow the law has no business running a federal agency.
This isn't a gray area. Sen. Chris Murphy pointed out that DHS has violated nearly 100 court orders this year alone. That's not a pattern of good-faith disagreement with the judiciary — that's contempt for the rule of law. It has already triggered the longest funding lapse in DHS history. The longer Mullin stays in that role, the more damage gets done to both the agency and the constitutional order it's supposed to uphold.
I expect you to call for Mullin's removal and use every tool available — confirmation oversight, funding leverage, public pressure — to make that happen. No official at any level gets to pick which laws they follow.
