I am writing to you regarding the meeting of the vice president with the governor and some republican legislators (not sure if you’re included in that). If you’re staying silent about this meeting, it tells me everything I need to know about your integrity and character. This is antithetical to everything about a representative democracy that the USA is supposed to be. How dare you stay silent when the voices of the people are being suppressed. Only cowards and losers would be open to cheating because they cannot win on their own merit. If what the president and this current congress was doing was as great as the Republican Party says it is, changing the maps wouldn’t be necessary—you should be able to win by the “winning” that the country is experiencing. But we cannot be gaslit into believing that things are better under this administration or under the Republicans leadership in Indiana. Prices across the board are higher (gas, groceries, necessary household items, etc.). Companies are negatively impacted by tariffs and cuts to healthcare including possible closures of rural hospitals in our state. Republicans signed for additional tolls to be put into place. Republicans took away our tax dollars from public schools to fund private schools mainly benefiting rich families. My local government is raising taxes to make up for the property tax law you all passed. Wheel taxes are being considered. It’s funny that Republicans talk about less taxes but are okay with more taxes in other ways that disproportionately impact lower income families. This doesn’t touch on people getting kidnapped off the streets by masked and plain clothes people for being brown. And Republicans just bragged about getting a new concentration camp built in this state. How gross. This is what voters will remember. Good will win out and history will not be kind to Republicans’ actions cuz God don’t like ugly. I believe you’ll either bow to the president’s wishes or remain silent like a coward because that seems to be all we see from most Republicans but I truly hope you prove me wrong. But I’m not holding my breath.
