Congress: Oppose S.220/H.R.521

To: Rep. Lee, Sen. Cortez Masto, Sen. Rosen

From: A constituent in Las Vegas, NV

February 7, 2025

The congressional authority to designate national monuments has existed since the Antiquities Act of 1906 and serves as an important tool for protecting our nation's natural, cultural, and historic resources. By attempting to revoke or limit this long-standing authority through S. 220, Congress risks endangering cherished public lands and Indigenous sacred sites that lack statutory protections. We should uphold the spirit of the Antiquities Act and safeguard these national treasures for current and future generations to appreciate and enjoy. I urge you to carefully consider the consequences of undermining this critical conservation measure and vote against S. 220.
