I’m writing to let you know I am deeply opposed to mid-decade redistricting. Here in Indiana we just redistricted after the 2020 census and after having been in one district for years, my representative changed because the legislature decided this was the best division of the state for us in this moment. We are still in this moment as we haven’t had any substantive population changes in the last 5 years. There is zero practical need to change the lines again and I cannot think of any common sense reason why we are even considering this. It’s a waste of legislator time (you could be working to help us fix real issues in our districts but attention is pulled to this made-up “problem”). It’s a waste of taxpayer dollars (the time you are taking to consider this and redraw a map you just redrew costs real money).
If you need something to do instead, please consider reissuing the CCDF, fixing our roads which are riddled with potholes, bolstering healthcare systems in rural areas which are in dire straits, or even just holding town halls to see and listen to us. This is not worth your time, but the improving lives of Hoosiers is.
