Stop arming Israel's assault on Gaza, end civilian casualties
To: Sen. Klobuchar, Sen. Smith
From: A constituent in Minneapolis, MN
November 18
The continued sale of $20 billion in weapons to Israel amid its protracted assault on Gaza is highly concerning. Evidence indicates US-made munitions have directly caused civilian casualties, including the horrific December incident where US Joint Direct Attack Munitions killed 43 Palestinians in central Gaza. This genocide has claimed over 44,000 Palestinian lives, and arming one side only perpetuates the violence and suffering. While Israel had the right to defend itself against the initial Hamas attack, its response has been utterly disproportionate, bombarding civilian areas and leaving Gaza uninhabitable. US weapons are causing these war crimes in contravention of international law. It is immoral and illegal for the US to be complicit in such atrocities against the Palestinian people. I urge you to support Senator Sanders' resolution and vote to stop these arms sales. Upholding human rights and working towards a just peace must take precedence over arming human rights abusers. Cutting off military aid could leverage real progress towards a ceasefire and prevent further civilian casualties caused by US munitions. The ethical and legal implications of continuing these sales are unacceptable. Please support Senator Sanders' resolution and halt US complicity in the Gaza genocide.
