Protect Ohio veterans' legal medical marijuana access
To: Sen. Wilkin, Rep. Johnson
From: A constituent in Chillicothe, OH
February 19
As a veteran diagnosed with PTSD, I urge you to reject Senate Bill 56 which would gut the legal marijuana access that Ohio voters overwhelmingly approved in 2024 with Issue 2. Key provisions allowed legal home cultivation to treat conditions like PTSD without stigma or criminalization. SB 56 slashes home grow limits from 12 to 6 plants, criminalizes sharing legally grown cannabis, and bans public use even on private rental properties against landlord wishes. This recriminalizing measure reverts progress on addressing PTSD and other conditions through legal, regulated marijuana. As someone who has served this country, I should not face renewed discrimination or policing for pursuing a treatment option Ohio voters explicitly endorsed at the ballot box last year. Please protect veterans' ability to legally and safely access medical marijuana by rejecting this overreaching legislation.
