An Open Letter
To: Rep. Clyburn
From: A verified voter in Charleston, SC
November 18
I would like Congressman Clyburn to oppose H.R. 9495, The Stop Terror Financing and Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act. I know that he opposed it in the last round of votes and I want to make sure he continues to do so. This bill would give the secretary of the Treasury the unilateral power to revoke a nonprofit's tax-exempt status and it would be abused by the Trump Administration. Alternatively, I know that Representatives Doggett and Beyer have submitted an amendment to the bill which strikes section 4 from it. This is the part I object to. So please ask the congressman Clyburn to either vote no on the bill completely or insist that the House Rules committee adopt the Doggett Beyer amendment before he will support it. Thanks.
