The conditions at the Central Louisiana ICE Processing Center in Jena are deeply concerning and inhumane. Detainees are subjected to overcrowded dormitories with constant lighting, inadequate bedding, and extreme temperature fluctuations, leading to widespread illness. The remote location severely limits access to legal representation and family visitation. This facility exemplifies the cruelty of our immigration detention system. I urge you to take immediate action to address these egregious human rights violations. Shutting down this facility and others like it must be a priority. We cannot allow such dehumanizing treatment to continue under the guise of immigration enforcement. Comprehensive immigration reform is needed to replace this unjust system with one that upholds human dignity and due process. The current conditions at Jena are unacceptable and a stain on our nation's values and a stain on our state.
