Remove Sen. Mike Lee From Committee Leadership
To: Sen. Curtis, Sen. Lee
From: A constituent in Salt Lake City, UT
March 24
Sen. Mike Lee's reckless promotion of the SAVE America Act is damaging our party and embarrassing Utah. I'm asking you to support removing him from his committee chairmanship immediately.
Lee's scorched earth tactics—late-night social media streams, constant inflammatory posts, and public attacks on fellow Republicans—show he cares more about his own profile than governing effectively. Sen. Thom Tillis got it right when he called Lee's approach "a self-serving attempt at elevating yourself at the expense of your Republican colleagues." Lee is creating false hope among his online followers and blaming Republican weakness instead of focusing on real legislative strategy. One of your colleagues said it plainly: "He's hurting us."
His online posts suggesting that senators who don't fall in line should be replaced prove he can't build the coalitions needed to pass legislation. Utah deserves a senator focused on results, not clicks. Lee's behavior shows he's chasing higher ambitions—Cabinet positions, leadership roles, maybe even a Supreme Court seat—while undermining the work you're all trying to do.
Strip him of his chairmanship. He doesn't represent Utah's values or interests.
