Protect Marriage Equality
To: Rep. Zinke
From: A constituent in Missoula, MT
February 26
This resolution seeks to undermine the Obergefell v. Hodges Supreme Court ruling that legalized same-sex marriage nationwide in 2015. Same-sex couples deserve the same rights and protections as opposite-sex couples when it comes to marriage. The freedom to marry is a fundamental constitutional right that should not be infringed upon. Preventing committed same-sex couples from getting married denies them equality and goes against American values of freedom and equal protection under the law. Marriage equality has had no negative impact on society and has instead brought joy to millions of couples and families. Loving couples should be able to marry regardless of their sexual orientation. I urge you to uphold marriage equality and reject any efforts to roll back this critical civil rights victory.
