Send a budget bill compromise back to the House

To: Sen. Scott, Sen. Moody

From: A constituent in Tallahassee, FL

November 1

I’m writing as a concerned constituent to urge you to work across the aisle to craft a meaningful compromise that can move legislation forward—particularly with regard to keeping health care affordable and ensuring access to food assistance programs. We’ve seen repeated votes on the same bill with no progress. Instead of continuing this stalemate, I'm asking you to help lead the way toward a solution that can pass in both chambers. Millions of Americans, including many of your own constituents, depend on the subsidies under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) to keep health insurance premiums manageable. Without action, many will be priced out of coverage. Likewise, the decision by the USDA to withhold SNAP funding during the current gridlock is not only troubling—it’s unconscionable. Using food assistance as a political bargaining chip hurts our nation’s most vulnerable and should not be acceptable under any circumstance. Is this the version of government we want to normalize? One that makes healthcare unaffordable and withholds food from families? I believe we can do better. I’m asking you to prioritize people over partisanship and help break this cycle of inaction. Please use your leadership to encourage bipartisan cooperation and deliver real solutions for the American people. Thank you for your consideration.
