Vote No on Resolutions to Overturn Grand Staircase-Escalante Management Plan

To: Sen. Risch, Rep. Simpson, Sen. Crapo

From: A constituent in Ammon, ID

March 22

Vote no on the resolutions of disapproval introduced by Senator Mike Lee and Representative Maloy on March 4 that would overturn the management plan for Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. These resolutions would undo the current plan that protects endangered species, fossils, and guides critical infrastructure decisions. Without it, we'd see out-of-control off-road vehicle use tearing up the landscape, clearcutting of native pinyon-juniper forests, and a free-for-all of extractive activities that would permanently damage this irreplaceable monument. Overturning this plan creates chaos. Monument managers would lose clear guidance on how to protect the very resources Grand Staircase-Escalante was created to preserve. This isn't about improving management. It's about opening the door to destruction. Grand Staircase-Escalante belongs to all Americans, not just extractive industries. Vote no on these joint resolutions and defend the monument.
