I’m reaching out to ask Rep. Turner to support full funding for the CDC’s Food Safety Program - at least $111 million, the level a coalition of consumer and food industry groups requested this spring. Last year the CDC cut active surveillance for six major foodborne pathogens, including the one behind the cyclosporiasis outbreak that’s sickened so many people this summer, including hundreds in Ohio. The whole food safety program runs on less than a day’s worth of a lot of other federal spending. I’d like to know where Rep. Turner stands on this. I’d like to get back to eating salads and berries without worrying!
