It is crucial for the Senate to confirm as many of President Biden's judicial nominees as possible before Republicans take control of the chamber in January. With Trump's history of appointing conservative judges who have rolled back rights on issues like abortion and gun control, leaving vacancies would allow the next administration to reshape the courts in a way that does not align with the values of most Americans. The Senate has confirmed 214 Biden nominees so far, promoting diversity and balance on the federal bench. However, there are still 31 nominees awaiting votes, including 5 for influential appeals courts. Confirming these remaining judges would secure Biden's legacy of judicial appointments better reflecting our nation's values and demographics. Failing to do so risks empowering an ideological agenda at odds with progress on civil rights, environmental protections, and more. For the sake of an independent and representative judiciary, the Senate must act swiftly to confirm Biden's qualified nominees before this opportunity is lost.
