Since when does the US fight wars whose goals are simply to inflict maximum destruction and pain as opposed to trying to achieve strategic objectives? This war was begun by a president who talks about blowing ships up being 'fun', and whose goals shift multiple times a day. And Congress has allowed this. Do your jobs!
