NO TO PURGING GENERALS BOARD!!

To: Sen. Helmy, Rep. Van Drew, Sen. Booker

From: A verified voter in Mays Landing, NJ

November 13

I have recently learned about President-Elect Trump's plan to set up a "warrior board" consisting of retired military officials, and tasked with rooting out serving generals who--for dangerously unspecified reasons--should be considered for dismissal, and reporting their names to President Trump. The creation of this commission is worrying, as it is a step toward granting the executive too much direct and capricious authority over the military, an d leaves respected and experienced generals vulnerable to the whims of the Trump Administration. We do not know what criteria the commission might use to determine which individuals should be fired, but the President's history shows us that it would be largely related to how loyal they are to him. This may result in generals willing to violate norms, laws, and civil rights, all in service of the whims of President Trump. undermining the military's readiness and ability to protect the country. And it would, without question, strip the military of its most experienced and competent officers, endangering our troops and our national security, and For these reasons, I ask that you take action, and vote with your fellow members of Congress to prevent such a commission from ever being formed. Thank you.
