Oppose the Interstate Obscenity Definition Act (IODA)

To: Sen. Tillis, Sen. Budd, Rep. Harrigan

From: A constituent in Tobaccoville, NC

May 13

Senator Mike Lee wants to create a federal ban of pornagraphy across the US. He'd define obscene materials as things that "appeals to the prurient interest in nudity, sex, or excretion". This could lead to censorship over numerous works of art such as "The Birth of Venus" or "The Creation of Adam". Where do we draw the line? Libraries are already under attack with numerous book bans targeting Queer authors. Will books be banned for a single scene where characters engage in sex? Congress should not be censoring the media we have access to in this way. I'm asking you to oppose this bill.
