Elon Musk has secured over $11.8 billion in federal contracts since Trump took office in 2025—across 52+ awards from 7 agencies—while serving as a Special Government Employee (SGE) in the same administration. This is a clear conflict of interest and a likely violation of the Competition in Contracting Act (41 U.S.C. § 3301), 18 U.S.C. § 208, and FAR Subpart 3.6 governing improper business practices.
In April 2025, SpaceX landed a $5.9B contract for 28 National Security Space Launch missions. Starshield is executing a $1.8B classified contract for Pentagon surveillance satellites with no competitive process. Starlink is now poised to take over a $2B FAA systems contract, even as Musk holds regulatory influence over the outcome.
Reuters reports: “Musk’s dual role as contractor and policymaker has triggered deep concern over fairness and federal procurement ethics.”
This is not efficiency—it’s self-dealing on a historic scale.
Other companies won’t challenge this because Musk is both regulator and beneficiary—a textbook abuse of power. Congress must not only demand a GAO investigation into these deals but also refer Musk for criminal investigation and prosecution under federal conflict-of-interest and procurement fraud statutes.
This isn’t just about one man—it’s about the collapse of ethical governance. Prosecute corruption. Protect democracy. Investigate now.
