Protect sacred Oak Flat from destructive mining
To: Justices Court
From: A constituent in Mount Sterling, KY
April 24, 2025
The Trump administration has prioritized domestic mining projects, including Resolution Copper's proposed mine near Phoenix, Arizona that would destroy the sacred Oak Flat site of immense cultural and spiritual importance to Native American tribes like the San Carlos Apache. This represents an alarming attempt to accelerate the desecration of Native lands and cultural heritage in pursuit of extractive industries' profits. Urgent action is needed to prevent this egregious violation of indigenous rights and environmental protections by pressuring federal agencies and elected representatives to revoke permits and halt the fast-tracking of projects that threaten to obliterate irreplaceable sacred sites like Oak Flat.
