An Open Letter

To: Rep. Miller

From: A verified voter in Cleveland, OH

April 3

Despite popular belief, the President doesn't actually control tariffs, CONGRESS DOES. The Senate recently passed a measure to terminate the tariffs on Canada, which will now go to the House. As a Constituent, the cost of living is already almost unattainable. For instance, grocery prices are hurting us, badly. And I am one who usually shops at Aldi, which -- if you are not familiar with grocery shopping -- is already one of the cheapest places to get groceries in Ohio. But a gallon of orange juice -- basic, made from concentrate orange juice - was $8.99 this week. That much for a gallon of orange juice? Not to mention that egg prices are still over $5 a dozen, and my city doesn't allow us to raise our own chickens. We need to make repairs to our home; the paint is peeling off one of the walls, we need to replace a side door and fix our wooden fence. But how are we going to afford the paint or the wood or a new side door when those prices will be rising, too, and all our money is already going towards groceries anyway? YOU, as my representative in the House, have the power to help constituents like me. You must force a vote on the Senate Canadian tariff measure, and then vote against that tariff and any other tariffs that come to a vote and are hurting your constituents. Our government should be helping to make our lives easier and better. This is what you were voted into office for, to help your constituents.
