Keep US consulate in Edinburgh open, strengthen US-Scotland ties.
To: Rep. McGuire
From: A constituent in Charlottesville, VA
April 17
The proposal to close the US consulate in Edinburgh, which has been operational since 1798, is concerning. This consulate plays a vital role in maintaining strong cultural, business, and citizen service ties between the United States and Scotland. Eliminating this longstanding diplomatic presence would be detrimental to the valuable relationship between our nations. The consulate's services facilitate important connections and exchanges that enrich both countries. Its closure would erode these mutually beneficial bonds that have been cultivated over centuries. Please speak out against this decision and work toward keeping the consulate open and fully staffed. Keeping the Edinburgh consulate and fully operational will fortify the amicable relationship between the US and Scotland. We should be maintaining our amicable relationships, not turning away from them. Thank you for your attention and service.
