April 9

PLEASE SUPPORT HB26-1202! This is Colorado Coalition for the Homeless’ top priority bill, HB26-1202, is expected to be heard in the Senate as soon as tomorrow. This bill will improve and facilitate statewide strategies and coordination on homelessness resolution in three ways: 1) Allow counties and municipalities to form regional authorities to respond to homelessness, 2) Create a proposal for a statewide strategy on homelessness, and 3) Allow local documentary fees to be used for affordable housing It is no secret that homelessness is increasing across Colorado, and more people are struggling to make ends meet. At the same time, the state is facing a massive budget gap that puts essential policies, programs, and funding at risk. In this fiscal environment, it is more important than ever to think strategically about how to help individuals, families, and communities meet their basic needs. This bill adds one more tool to local governments’ toolboxes. I urge you to support this critically important bill and vote against any unfriendly amendments to weaken it.
