Vote against the Tax Bill that rewards billionaires, weakens our Constitution
To: Sen. Tillis
From: A verified voter in Holly Springs, NC
June 2
I’m writing to express my deep concern about the tax bill under consideration in Congress. As a North Carolina voter, I urge you to vote no on this legislation.
Your track record of standing up for principle, even when it’s difficult, gives me hope that you will reject this bill. Your opposition to Ed Martin’s nomination for the DC US Attorney showed that you won’t always rubber-stamp the administration’s picks. This bill is another test of your courage — and our state can’t afford for you to fail it.
The tax bill is a rushed, election-year stunt, not serious policy. It adds $3.8 trillion to the national debt — that’s reckless and surprising since the GOP supports bringing down national debt. It includes vague, sweeping cuts that could hurt military readiness. Not to mention the multiple last-minute inclusions that stretch the bounds of Executive branch overreach, in disregard of our Constitution.
Even conservative groups are backing away from it. This bill is structurally broken, not fixable. We need real leadership, Senator Tillis. We need you to vote no on this bill, not to negotiate or amend it.
Our state deserves a senator who will stand up for fiscal responsibility, even under pressure. Please reject this reckless tax plan.
