As an American citizen, I am writing again out of grave concern. Unfortunately, Kash Patel was confirmed. Grossly unqualified, like all other confirmed cabinet members, and known extremists, he appears already set on a vendetta against our country’s FBI. Please take immediate action to stop the damage that President Trump and Musk are creating by unstopped messy firing and gutting spree, and dismantling of the Federal Government, and seizing power from the states and Congress. What is going on? The gutting of USAID and multiple other critical departments, most recently our Pentagon and IRS, including the department of Education were done on the claim that there is massive fraud and waste. Since there is no specific documented evidence of the degree of this fraud or waste, is there another reason this is being done we are not aware of? These actions pose a risk to our future security, health, and safety caused by dismantling our health, science, environmental, and educational infrastructure. The lack of resistance in Congress is completely unacceptable and bewildering. Every single elected congress person who does not speak out against and move to stop these actions is complicit in the destruction of our nation’s federal expertise that took half a century to develop. Regarding this horrific sweep of removal of DEI departments and initiatives, including the firing of a top, highly decorated general, who was considered too ‘Woke’ and focused on DEI programs, appears more a sham firing with no basis given his service and qualifications. By definition “DEI hires” are the most qualified people available, regardless of their race or gender. DEI programs are almost universally meritocratic; their goal is to simply open the hiring door to a wider variety of people beyond just white men. On Tuesday, President Trump blamed Ukraine for “starting” the war with Russia—a blatant lie. Russia invaded Ukraine without provocation. The betrayal of Ukraine will forever damage US relations with Europe and may undermine the peace and security that has prevailed in Europe and globally because of the strong NATO alliance. That will be a tragedy for Ukraine, Europe, and every American. A despicable, shameful outcome. Last, but not least, we are seeing a reversal in President Trump’s position from promising he would protect Medicaid and Social Security to indicating he will cut Medicaid and could go after our Social Security. This is not acceptable. Under the current administration of President Trump, the United States is abandoning the post–World War II world it helped to build and then guaranteed for the past 80 years. No response is necessary, but I would like to see swift action on your part to protect this democracy.
