Do not fund weapons to Israel

To: Sen. Kim, Sen. Booker

From: A constituent in Jersey City, NJ

April 4

I got to start my day in a great way this morning by finding out that both of the senators who represent me voted to keep funding arm sales to Israel. Awesome, I just love when the money I pay in taxes is used to murder innocent children! That was sarcasm, in case that was unclear. What is wrong with you both?? Who exactly are you pandering to when you vote for things that are indefensibly evil? This is the bullshit that made democrats lose the presidential election, decisions that prove that when it comes to right and wrong, most democrats just can’t recognize it. Genocide is wrong. End of story. 31 days without aid of any kind and you think the solution to that clear human rights violation is “hm, let’s give them more guns!”. Shame on you, the blood of those children is on YOUR hands. You are as guilty as if you had shot them yourself. I empathize with Israel’s mission to have all the hostages returned safely home, but may I remind you that Israel, in their attempt to free these hostages, killed three of them themselves? How is more weapons, more funding, more violence, going to prevent that? I want an explanation for this, I want detailed reasoning for this abhorrent decision. Prove to me how I am wrong in my disgust, because so far no one has been able to give any reason as to why we must continue to financially support global suffering. How can I trust either of you to prevent genocide at home when you won’t take even the simplest of actions to prevent it abroad? I am aware that Palestine is essentially governed by a terrorist group, but that doesn’t make it’s innocent civilians terrorists too. People do not get to choose where they’re born, they just try to live where they are. I can celebrate your victories when you, as my senators, make decisions that I support, but I will not allow your moral failures to be forgotten when they occur. Do better.
