As an experienced English teacher in Virginia Beach, I am deeply concerned about the state of public education and the loss of experienced teachers. The teacher shortage cannot be solved through recruitment alone. We must address why experienced, dedicated teachers are leaving the profession. We are managing large classes, testing requirements, increasing documentation, and serious student needs without enough time, staffing, or support. Please listen to educators working in classrooms and invest in the resources teachers need to teach and students need to succeed.
